Status Definitions

There are several objects in MES that need a status. They include:

  • Orders

  • Line Items (Individual Geometries of an Order)

  • Prints (Individual units of a line item)

There are several statuses corresponding to each of these.

Status

Print or Line Item Status change

Changes

New

New order, nothing's been done yet

Calculating Estimates

Automatically moved to this status as we calculate all the required stats, render, prices and other info about the object.

Pending

Automatically moved into this status as soon as all estimates have been calculated.

Confirmed

Manually moved into this category by an engineer approving the build. Let us know if you want to skip this step.

Restricted users can't change order from this point onward

Queued

THIS STEP CURRENTLY ONLY APPLIES TO PRINTS. Applies when the part has been scheduled for print

All other users can't change line item/print details from this point forward.

Printing

Automatically moved into this status if we detect a print starting that has the same name as the run to which this object is associated. Manual change possible in the run.

Post Processing

Usually manually updated by operator as different post-processing steps are completed.

Shipping

Automatically moved into this status as soon as the first Print moves to shipping. Manual change possible.

Complete

Automatically moved into this status as soon as all parts have completed the "shipping" step. Manual change possible.

Failed

When we detect failure on the machine or the run or line item is set to failed, then we automatically create a new one. Therefore a print or a line item may be failed, but it will have a replica in the same order - this will continue until a part is either built successfully or cancelled.

Cancelled

A Line Item can be manually cancelled at any time. Prints can't. If you wan't to cancel those you have to reduce the quantity in an order.

These statuses also apply to Orders, with the only difference being that they can not be manually changed except for moving an order into cancelled. All other statuses are automatically switched to the next following similar rules the ones above.

Status

Order Status Change

New

New Order, all new Line items. You'll rarely see this status.

Calculating Estimates

If even one of your line items is being processed by our system, this will update the order.

Pending

Automatically moved into this status as soon as all estimates have been calculated.

Confirmed

Moved into this status as soon as all Line Items are moved to Confirmed

Processing

Automatically moved into this status as soon as any Print of the order has been started.

Shipping

Automatically moved into this status as soon as the first line item moves to shipping.

Complete

Automatically moved into this status as soon as all Line Items have completed the "shipping" step.

Failed

Not applicable to Orders since Failed Line Items or Prints just keep replicating until either cancelled or completed.

Cancelled

An Order can be changed any time.
